Episode XV: The boys are joined by Chicago comedian Jimmy Pennington as they talk shit on “Star Wars:Clone Wars”, discuss the current improv comedy scene, and try to determine why He-man is such a racist, this week on Nerd City.
After all these years, old Bobbie Gillespie can still put together a great song! I’ve got to say, this is probably my fav of the moment. From the full length album Beautiful Future.
I’m really digging the work of Japan’s RealxHead as of late. And this little guy is the craziest one yet! I know very little about him except that Super 7 has him up as a new release here.
With the release of Mario Super Sluggers yesterday (I recommend picking it up by the way). 2pstart has created an interesting cartoon for the game. If you check out their archives HERE you will find some other funny cartoons based off of other video games. Enjoy.
Gameloft studios will be launching their own Chuck Norrisvideo game for cell phones. Now I know just having Mr. Norris star in a video game is enough to get you to buy it, but the best part is your enemies are Fidel Castro and Kim Jong-Il. So unless you are not a patriot you should buy this game. You will begin the game by saving hostages from Cambodia then you move on to help save America from an invasion. I am guessing that the invasion comes from Cuba. You will have standard shoot em up weapons and Mr. Norris’ fists as well to stop evil, which will be generic bad guys or your friends as you can take pictures of people and use their faces for your enemies.

For those of you who made it through the decidedly offensive Episode 15, you might have caught my mistake in stating that one of the few black characters in the Masters of the Universe cannon was Chef Alan. As you can see in the picture above, he was actually Filmation’s token Italian character.
For the record, the guy that I was thinking of was called Melaktha. I don’t specifically recall what his role was (for shame!), but I’m fairly certain that it wasn’t of a culinary nature. Here he is:
And to round things out, here he is, the man, the myth, the legend, Clamp Champ:
Behold, the awesomest incarnation of the Warrior Alien ever! This October, Medicom Toys is releasing this 8″ VCD (that’s “Vinyl Collectible Doll”, Chef James). Also, check out their standard Alien:
They can both be yours for $75 a pop. Images ganked from the always rad ToysREvil.
Since man first began brewing, he has tried to find ways to keep his beer from spoiling too quickly. The more you can brew at one time, the less time you need to spend brewing. This was important when every home brewed its own beer because the local water supply was somewhere between suspicious and rancid. Also, the yeast in beer only lives between certain temperatures, so without refrigeration, brewing during the summer was impossible.
We can thank our innovative ancestors for the various styles we drink today, some of which will improve with age. Anything that is bottle conditioned (you can see a small layer of yeast sediment in the bottom of the bottle) will usually evolve with time. By storing your beer upright in a cool, dark, and somewhat humid space, the yeast left in the bottle will continue to slowly feed; and the flavors will continue to meld. Also, the hops will mellow over time, so aging isn’t always ideal for hop bombs or fresh hop beers. Barleywines, imperial stouts and porters, old ales, and lambics are all ideal candidates for cellaring. Some beers will hit their peak at 3-4 years, others will continue to improve as long as their caps survive and don’t allow in any oxygen.
This is a hobby that requires great patience and attention, you can’t obsess about all the good stuff you’ve hidden under the stairs. This winter, try buying some of these stronger beers and hide a portion away. After 2-3 years, you can start pulling some out of the cellar to enjoy while you keep adding more to your stash.
Based off of a novel, the Halo movie will look to be prequel to the video game. Peter Jackson Is set to produce the film. Below are a few concept art shots.
I’m back home safe and sound in good old Chicago. This past weekend was my first time in New York City and I’ve got to say I really dug it! I got to check out some amazing toy stores, listened to some great djs, had some famous pizza, and shared an elevator with Chuck Close. Not too shabby.
